John Brown’s Form Guide
His first horse, OUR GIRL, was a winner – the thrill instilled in him a life-long love of racing and involvement with horses. John, as a teenager, trained the mare along Semaphore Beach in South Australia. She went on to win 5 races including 2 city Saturday events and her progeny includes NEAPOLI BOY who won an amazing 31 races.
The Bloodstock consultant was the Manager for NSW of Dalgety Bloodstock from 1977. He branched out on his own in 1979 to form John Brown Bloodstock.
His philosophy in selecting competitive horses is to focus on their positive attributes and plan their course to becoming a successful athlete. “It does not matter if the horse is priced at two thousand dollars or two million dollars,” said John. “I select them based on their winning potential, conformation, pedigree, track history and most importantly quality, presence and attitude. I must be able to see Group One winner in them.” Group One Stakes winners have been purchased for as low as $2,400 – namely SPANISH MIX. She went on to win $590,060.
